I have a lot of BELATED season 6 Dean/Cas feelings
I think this post is all that this fandom, especially Cas’ side of it, needs to read more frequently.
What I meant to say: YES to all of this. I love Cas, he’s my second favourite in the series, but too often I see a gross exaggerations of his nature - either he’s a prefect, misunderstood saint or he’s a selfish dick. Neither is true. Like all the characters in SPN, he has dimensions, faults and virtues. I personally like him the most when those sides of him get to be explored - like in S6. His relationship with Dean in that season is a thing of beauty, even if it is painful and fucked up. I actually started shipping them during 6x20, when it was all exposed in its messy glory.
It would be even better, if people stopped buying into his own perception of himself (as pinkandsatiny beautifully puts: “a tragic hero narrative”) and saw his actions in more objective light.

Actually, maybe don’t delete this? It’s very accurate. Just because Castiel’s actions can be rationalized, doesn’t mean they were right. His motives and morals and actions were so skewed sixth season - this provides some perspective.
